An artist-led platform for experimental audiovisual art — performances, workshops and an archive of what happened. Helsinki / Berlin.
Pulse Index
Pulse Index is an artist-led platform for experimental audiovisual art, based in Helsinki and Berlin. It brings together artists working across sound, moving image, performance, movement and technology to meet, share knowledge and build new collaborations.
The programme includes audiovisual performances in conventional and non-conventional spaces, artist-led workshops and demos, and the documentation of ephemeral and improvised work. It grows through relationships with independent cultural spaces, organisations and artist networks, with the aim of fair working conditions for everyone involved.
Pulse Index was started by Monika Hauck, new media artist and one half of the audiovisual duo Static Channel. Through her own A/V performances she kept meeting acts who wanted visuals, and was drawn into more and more live collaborations. Missing the closeness of house parties and house shows, she put on the first Pulse Index event at Nasha Studio in 2025. Long the person others turn to for organising, she now leads it as producer and curator.
Were you at a Pulse Index event and have photos, video, audio or other documentation? Send it in — it can be added to the archive.
